Types of Court Marriage

Special Marriage

The Special Marriage Act, 1954 is an Act of the Parliament of India with provision for civil marriage (or "registered marriage") for people of India and all Indian nationals in foreign countries, irrelevant of the religion or faith followed by either party.

NRI Court Marriage

'NRI marriages', as generally understood, are between an Indian woman from India and an Indian man residing in another country (thus NRI – non-resident Indian), either as Indian citizen (when he would legally be an 'NRI') or as citizen of that other country (when he would legally be a PIO – person of Indian origin).

Hindu Court Marriage

To begin with, neither party should have lived as husband or wife at the time of the marriage. The girl must be at least 18 years old. The husband must be at least 21 years old. The parties should not be in a state of insanity. Both parties should offer legitimate consent in the marriage.

Inter-Religion Court Marriage

Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, , Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, or Jews can also perform marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Inter-religion marriages are performed under this Act. This Act is applicable to the entire territory of India and extends to intending spouses who are both Indian nationals living abroad.

Muslim Marriage

he legal contract between a bride and bridegroom as part of an Islamic marriage; the contract of Islamic marriage; Islamic marriage in general. Nikah is an Arabic term used for marriage. It means "contract". The Quran specifically refers to marriage as "mithaqun Ghalithun,". Which means "a strong agreement".

Family Rights

Article 10(1) provides for the right to family: 1. The widest possible protection and assistance should be accorded to the family, which is the natural and fundamental group unit of society, particularly for its establishment and while it is responsible for the care and education of dependant children.
